RAF Honiley Abandoned Jet Engine Test Centre

Raf Honiley was operational 1941-1958, a base for night fighter squadrons during the war then various training and signals units until its closure.

When it was acquired by Lucas varsity it was used as an automotive test area by the likes of prodrive and TRW (Lucas Aerospace)

There’s what’s left of a wind tunnel, three control rooms, and engine test bay and lots of other bits and bobs sprawled over an overgrown site.

Completely devoid of vandalism probably due to the remote location and captain angry who cut my visit short from the shotgun range next door stalking me around the site hence a 20 minute rush job 😦
