St Gerrards abandoned children’s TB hopital

Father Hudson was a parish priest. He was assigned as secretary and administrator for The Birmingham Diocesan Rescue Society for the protection of homeless and friendless Catholic children.

Created when poverty, deprivation and child labour was strife in 1902. St Gerald’s Hospital was built as an expansion for St Edwards boys and Catholic children from the diocese and workhouse hospitals.

It was closed in the 70’s and literally had the lights turned off as they left and nothing touched since…. the place had a very odd atmosphere as I wandered around.
